Till the Last Gasp

"I never liked your cooking!" [STAB!]

As I explore weird little improv RPG-ish games, I discover (or perhaps confirm) that I'm NOT very good at it. But I feel like I would like it if I were better at it. And I might be able to get better at it. So I keep forcing my way through it.

I'm also scared of people, so I do these things alone and online in the safety of my blog. :)

The game, "Till the Last Gasp", is about two people with a history trying to impose their will upon one another by means of swordplay (or claws or lightning-whips or even guns, I suppose).

It's a game by Will Hindmarch, who still owes me a 10 years overdue "Project: Dark" Kickstarter.

Facing the Titan

Facing the Titan book cover

Hello, humans!

This is Jason, and today I'm playing "Facing the Titan". Normally this is played with a few friends, but they've got stuff to do, so I'm diving into this solo. Unlike other games like this where I just play as more than one guy, "Facing the Titan" actually comes with rules for solo play which add just a hint of strategy or resource management or something. Just a little something extra to make up for the missing players.

Playing the game solo feels a little bit like a creative writing project, but of course that could be said of any RPG that you play by yourself and then write down what happens. Although I suppose you could go in the other direction and have the game just be about rolling dice.
